Pridelands Lionheads
Living Elsewhere
![]()
Lionheads are still very much a breed in the development. The market has changed much over the past 4 -5 years of breeding Lionheads in the US. Initially they were extremely hard to find and from a very small gene pool. This is not the case now in 2006. It's relatively easy to find Lionheads in the US now, but the quality is not always there. Finding "QUALITY" stock can be quite a task, especially when so many kits are sold at such a young age when quality is hard to tell. Here at PrideLands, we are very strict on our culling ("cull" does not always mean "kill"). We will NOT sell EVERY kit from EVERY litter for use in breeding programs. Stock that leaves our program is stock that we feel has something to offer the breed. Stock that does not show the promise we expect out of our stock will be sold as pets (w/o pedigree) or to a local raptor recovery center. One of the problems plaguing the breed right now is too many inferior Lionheads being used in breeding programs. Make sure that when you introduce new Lionheads into your program that you KNOW what they have to offer to your herd. Set some goals for your herd and make sure that all new stock added to your program works TOWARD that goal.
Below are some examples of the quality of stock that PrideLands is proud to say we sell.
